Speaker: Willie Davis, Houston City Council Member, At-Large Position 2

Council Member Willie Davis is a proud Houstonian with a long history of serving the community.

He was raised in Houston’s Third Ward by a single mother, one of 11 siblings. In this large and loving home there were no luxuries. But hard times taught him a lesson he would carry with him for the rest of his life – It’s people and the relationships we have with them that are important.

What Davis learned from friends and family he carried with him when he joined the United States Army. He is a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army First Special Forces from 1973 to 1976.

When he left the military, he answered a higher calling of service and became a pastor. Davis is the Senior Pastor and Founder of the MacGregor Palm Community Baptist Church on the Southside.

He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at Houston Christian University. Davis previously served as vice president of the Metropolitan Ministers Alliance and is the former president of the Mayor’s Minister Advisory Board under Mayor Lee P. Brown.

Davis was sworn into office on January 2, 2024. As Houston City Council Member for At-Large Position 2, his mission is to strengthen the city we love, while ensuring the welfare of all Houstonians.
